About Somatic Gym
Somatic Gym began with a simple belief:
your body already knows how to guide you—sometimes it just needs space to be heard.

Our Mission: Guided by artists. Grounded in you.

As artists and somatic practitioners, we’ve spent years exploring movement as a way to release tension, ease stress, and reconnect with creativity. We saw how these simple, body-based practices transformed our energy, focus, and emotional well-being — and we wanted to make that experience accessible to everyone. Our approach was developed further by guiding nurses, doctors, and staff at Unity Health Toronto during the intense COVID-19 pandemic, where we witnessed how short, mindful-movement practices can reset the nervous system.
Rooted primarily in artistic practice and play, our work is also informed by trauma-aware approaches that emphasize embodied listening and following curiosity. Supported by ongoing arts-health research with Sweet Labour Art Collective, we bridge art, science, and care—offering movement experiences that nurture presence and relational awareness in everyday life.
Our Approach
Somatic Gym weaves together somatic education and creative movement.
Each practice is:
Guided by Artists & Educators — practitioners who teach and create with empathy, imagination, and cultural sensitivity.
Rooted in Somatic Principles — awareness, breath, and nervous-system regulation.
Informed by Intercultural Lineages — drawing from diverse movement and body-based traditions with respect and reciprocity.
Accessible for Everyday Life — short resets you can do anywhere, anytime.
We guide, not prescribe. There’s no single right way to move—only ways to explore what feels alive, possible, and authentic to you.
